damon brought me to The Boulevard, in a swanky neighbourhood called Ivanhoe. it’s this strip of houses that all deck themselves up for christmas, and folks flock there from all around to wander along, admire the tackiness, buy minidonuts and coffees and glo-sticks, just like we do in canada….without having vendors along street blocks. that part’s really really weird. and it feels like june but everyone pretends like snow and toques and icicles make sense at this time of year. also strange.
the balance of nice and tacky was about the same, though. but most neighbourhoods don’t really do christmas lights really. The Boulevard’s special.
